The state funeral and burial of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on September 19, 2022, in London, England, was a very somber affair. With over 2,000 attendees at Westminster Abbey to pay their respects to the late monarch, the royal family spearheaded the proceedings.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seated behind King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla, and next to Princess Beatrice. While the Duke of Sussex was spotted fighting back tears during his grandmother’s funeral, what piqued everybody’s attention was how it looked like Prince Harry didn’t join in to sing the national anthem. Towards the end of the funeral ceremony, the national anthem began with the new ‘God Save the King’ lyrics, while all the mourners aside from King Charles were spotted humming the anthem, hawk-eyed royals fan claimed that Prince Harry didn’t join in.
A royal fan tweeted, “Prince Harry not singing the national anthem #queensfuneral.” Another fan wrote, “Did Prince Harry not sing the National ANTHEM JUST THEN?” “Did I just see Prince Harry not joining in with the national anthem? #queensfuneral,” questioned a fan. Another fan added, “Anybody else notice #PrinceHarry not singing #nationalanthem very disrespectful #queensfuneral.”
Several royal fans began slamming Prince Harry for his blatant ‘disrespectful’ behavior by not joining in to sing the national anthem. A fan shared, “@KensingtonRoyal @RoyalFamily @ClarenceHouse Prince Harry can’t sing the national anthem? Strip him of everything. He is an utter disgrace to the crown and the nation. You must draw a firm line and take everything. Rip the plaster fast.” “Prince Harry didn’t sing the National Anthem to his father Total, utter, disrespect for his father, the nation, the Crown and the monarch that pays him. Strip him of all of his royal titles and funding. How much will NETFLIX want him then,” declared another fan. “Prince Harry not singing the National anthem tells us all we need to know, he couldn’t even do it for his Gran, have a good life overseas Harry, your time here is done. #RIPQueenElizabeth,” expressed a fan. “Prince Harry can’t sing God Save the King? Fine by me. Don’t sit behind the King then. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. You are trapped inside this world you’ve made yourself,” commented a fan.
Clad in a morning suit with his medals attached, Prince Harry was captured walking into Westminster Abbey for the Queen’s funeral service alongside his wife, Meghan Markle. Prince Harry joined the procession of the coffin from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
