Nicolas Cage, 58, and wife Riko Shibata, 27, welcome first child

Nicolas Cage, 58, and his wife Riko Shibata, 27, have welcomed their first child together.

Riko gave birth to the couple’s baby daughter, full name August Francesca Coppola Cage, at a hospital in Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 7.

A rep for the actor confirmed the news to PEOPLE and reassured fans that ‘Mother and daughter are doing fine.’

This is Riko’s first child and Nicolas’ third.

The Kick-Ass actor has son Weston Coppola Cage, 31, with ex Christina Fulton and son Kal-El, 16, with ex-wife Alice Kim.

Nicolas and Rico met in Japan in 2020 when he was filming Sion Sono’s Prisoners Of Ghostland. She landed a role in the movie playing one of the four Mannequin Women.

After getting engaged on FaceTime, the couple tied the knot at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas in February 2021.

Nicolas confirmed the wedding news himself in a statement to DailyMail.com: ‘It’s true, and we are very happy.’

Riko is the Face/Off star’s fifth wife.

Nicolas was previously married to Patricia Arquette (1995-2001), Lisa Marie Presley (2002-2004), Alice Kim (2004-2016), and Erica Koike (2019). Cage and Koike were married to for four days in March 2019 before he filed for an annulment.

During their ceremony, Riko wore a black handmade Japanese Bridal Kimono from Kyoto that required three layers. She held a bouquet of yellow and red roses that offset her bright red lipstick, while she wore her long dark hair falling straight around her shoulders.

Nicolas wore a black Tom Ford Tuxedo complete with a yellow rose buttonhole to match Riko’s bouquet.

Riko walked down the aisle to her favorite song Winter Song by Kiroro before they exchanged traditional Catholic and Shinto vows with poetry from Walt Whitman and Haiku ‘sprinkled in’, a rep for Cage told DailyMail.com.

The happy couple were pictured surrounded by white candles and green foliage in the hotel’s Primrose Courtyard as the masked officiant Reverend Richard E. Walter performed the ceremony, before the newlyweds walked hand in hand back into the hotel.

After the wedding, the bride and groom held a small celebration attended by Nicolas’ third wife Alice – with whom he has remained good friends – and their son Kal.

A state of Nevada marriage certificate obtained by DailyMail.com earlier showed that Riko had taken Nicolas’s name and is now known as Riko Cage.

Five months after tying the knot, the couple made their red carpet debut at the LA premiere of the movie Pig.

They would appear on their first magazine cover together for Flaunt in October 2021.

By January 2022, Nicolas and Riko announced they were expecting their first child.

‘The parents-to-be are elated!’ a representative for the Ghost Rider actor told PEOPLE at the time.

In April, Nicolas confirmed the sex of the pair’s then-unborn child during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

‘I’m gonna have a little girl,’ he told Clarkson and her studio audience. ‘I’m thrilled. It’s going to be the biggest adventure of my life [being a girl dad]’

During his sit-down with the American Idol winner, Nicolas said he planned to name their little girl Lennon Augie, after the late John Lennon and his late father August ‘Augie’ Coppola.

But the Nation Treasure actor and his wife apparently had a change of heart as they decided to name their daughter, August Francesca, upon her birth.

Nicolas has been the picture of bliss since wedding Riko, telling the LA Times earlier this year that he believes he ‘got it right’ this time around.

‘I’m really happily married. I know five is a lot,’ he said, in a reference to the number of times he has tied-the-knot, before adding, ‘But I think I got it right this time.’
