Prince Harry Solemnly Travels To Balmoral After Queen Elizabeth’s Passing

Queen Elizabeth II was the reigning monarch of England. During her time, nothing seemed to be stopping her from carrying out all of her royal duties, no matter what circumstance was thrown her way. The royal family encountered a difficult year in 2021 following Prince Philip’s passing, but the queen had continued to go above and beyond to carry out all of her responsibilities and see over all of the members of the royal family.

She went through her unfortunate share of hardships during 2021, as her long-time beloved passed, along with the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan made their official publicized departure from the family. With the couple’s departure, Harry and Meghan’s duties as active members of the royal family were forced to be redistributed to other members, with the queen having made all the big decisions and having the final say.

It’s safe to say that the queen had to deal with several overwhelming emotions before really focusing on taking care of herself and her physical health. For the first time since 2004, the queen was spotted using a walking stick for some extra support while out and about at Westminster Abbey on Oct. 12, 2021.

Sadly, Her Majesty encountered more health troubles in 2022. And on Sept. 8, 2022, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch passed away.

It was a devastating day for the royal family as many members gathered to be by her side in her final moments. Despite stepping down from his royal duties, Harry went to go be with his family during this incredibly difficult time.

On Sept. 8, 2022, the British monarchy completely changed as Elizabeth II passed away, making her son, Charles, the new king.

According to TIME, the late monarch was having health issues that kept everyone on high alert as she was being watched over at Balmoral Castle. Earlier in the day, a statement had been released, according to PEOPLE. It said:

“Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable at Balmoral.”

Many family members rushed to be by her side, including her son, as well as her grandson, Prince William. While William’s wife, Kate Middleton, was not with them right away, she urgently rushed to pick their kids up from school as soon as the tragic news broke that the queen had passed.

Charles’ first address as king was a somber one as he released a statement explaining that his mother had passed. He posted the statement to Instagram, which read:

A statement from His Majesty The King:

“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.

During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”

Many people left comments expressing their own grief and sorrow for the late queen’s passing. One person wrote, “We’re all thinking of you 🙏🏻💔💔💔.” Another said, “Our Queen needed to rest. I’m comforted by the thought that she is now with the love of her life.”

And while there were issues within the royal family at times, the members showed a great sense of togetherness as they all worked desperately to be there for Her Majesty in her time of need.

According to TIME, Harry flew to Scotland to be with his grandmother, leaving his wife Meghan Markle behind in London. PEOPLE reported that he flew alongside However, there were talks that she would potentially travel to Balmoral later.

Prince William, Harry’s brother who is second in line to the throne, also headed to Scotland on a plane with Queen Elizabeth’s other two sons, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Edward’s wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, was also onboard.

The couple had already been in the United Kingdom for a European trip where they would be attending charity events “close to their hearts,” according to TIME. It was a surprise that it occurred during the same time that the queen’s health was deteriorating. While they originally had plans to visit Manchester, they did not make plans to visit Harry’s grandmother.

However, that all changed following the queen’s passing.

The Sun reported that Harry traveled to Balmoral by car while wearing a dark suit and tie, looking incredibly somber as the news washed over him that his grandmother had passed.

There’s no telling if Meghan will join her husband as a shoulder to lean on during this difficult time or what the rest of the royal family will do in the forthcoming days as they show their respects to their late loved one. But what is clear is that the queen will continue to live on in the hearts of those all around the UK.
